The Problem

Inteleos develops both high-stakes exams and low-stakes quizzes for medical professionals, in either case, the process requires meticulous manual review by subject matter experts. Each question assesses professional knowledge and skill; like how to use sonography equipment to capture clear images of organs. In addition, every multiple-choice option must be carefully worded to eliminate confusion for test-takers.
While these exams and quizzes leverage the skills and knowledge that these experts use every day, Inteleos’ Learning and Development Operations Program Manager Paul Johnson explains that technical writing isn’t necessarily in their wheelhouse. However, to promote learning, every multiple-choice question on these quizzes includes an explanatory paragraph – and just one question can often take 20 minutes (or more) to research and write from end-to-end. Perplexity Enterprise is exactly the type of tool that can contribute to major workflow efficiencies while maintaining quality with human review.
Inteleos explored a wide variety of AI solutions before landing on Perplexity Enterprise. “We knew absorbing AI tools would be a major part of our strategy in 2024,” explains Juan Sanchez, Chief Information Officer at Inteleos. As Juan hoped, AI has expedited workflows across many departments at Inteleos. Today, more than 88% of the Inteleos team uses Perplexity Enterprise. Juan estimates it saves him at least two hours weekly with research tasks. That’s like getting a full day of work back each month.
For the leadership team, which includes board member doctors from major hospital systems, wordsmithing important statements used to take four to six hours of group work. But in 2023, they used Perplexity Enterprise to re-write Inteleos’ mission statement in just one hour.
