Getting Started

How is Computer different from regular Perplexity?

Regular Perplexity answers questions by searching, reading, and summarizing with citations. Computer acts as a worker that plans and executes multi-step workflows across tools and apps until a deliverable is produced.

What subscription level do I need to use Computer?

Computer is available to Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max. You can access it at perplexity.ai/computer or on your desktop app.

How do I set up the Computer Slack integration?

You can follow the steps to add Computer as a Slack integration here. Your email for your Slack workspace will need to match your Perplexity account to access Computer in Slack.

Is Computer available on mobile?

Yes, Computer is available on our Android app, and through the browser on any device.

Can I close my laptop and come back later for the results?

Yes, Computer tasks continue running in the background. You can close your tab and return later to see the completed results.

Computer vs. Other Tools

What is the key difference between Computer and other AI agents?

Computer is a general-purpose, multi-model, multi-agent digital worker that runs long-lived workflows across many apps and data sources. It has access to 20+ models that runs agents in parallel to complete your task. It is accessible on the web, mobile, and Slack.

When should I use Computer vs. Comet Assistant?

Use Comet Assistant when you're already in the browser and need quick help with what's open: summaries, comparisons, drafting replies. Use Computer when you want to delegate a whole multi-step task, like analyzing reports and building a strategy deck. When needed, Comet can finish a last-mile task for you from a Computer task.

When should I use Computer vs. regular Perplexity or Deep Research?

If you're looking for quick answers, document summaries, use deep research. Computer is best for end-to-end workflows where you need a deliverable produced across multiple tools and steps.

Skills

What are Skills in Computer?

Skills are reusable instruction sets you can upload (in Markdown format) that tell Computer how to handle specific tasks — like applying your brand guidelines to slides, following a research framework, or formatting reports a certain way.

Can I upload my brand identity guidelines so Computer creates on-brand presentations?

Yes, you can upload your brand guidelines as a Skill. Computer will then apply your specific template, colors, and formatting when generating slides. Learn more at our Skills help center article.

Can I share Skills with my team?

Yes, admins can share Skills across your organization. Individual users can also save their own.

Can Computer modify a Skill based on feedback during a task?

You would need to edit the Skill separately, or ask Computer to update the Skill within the same thread. Real-time feedback during a task does not automatically update the Skill itself.

Is there a shared library of Skills?

Yes, we have a library of Skills and plan to add more soon.

Connectors and Integrations

What connectors does Computer support?

Computer supports 400+ connectors including Gmail, Outlook, Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Slack, Notion, GitHub, Salesforce, Snowflake, HubSpot, ClickUp, Pipedrive, Power BI, and many more. You can view and manage them in the Connectors tab within Computer.

Can I connect multiple Microsoft accounts (multiple Outlook, Teams, etc.)?

Each connector supports one Microsoft account at a time per Perplexity user profile. You can switch which account is connected by disconnecting and reconnecting, but you can't keep two different accounts active simultaneously.

Do I need a subscription to PitchBook, CB Insights, or Statista to use their data?

No, these are included as premium data partnerships within your Perplexity subscription. You can also @mention the source in the query box.

Can Computer load custom, locally-hosted MCP servers?

Yes, Computer supports both remote connectors and local/remote MCPs. See our help center for setup.

Can Computer call APIs?

Yes, Computer can call APIs from within its secure sandboxed environment, typically through configured connectors rather than ad-hoc calls.

Asset Generation and Workflows

Can Computer output to PowerPoint in my company's template?

Yes, you can upload your template as a Skill and Computer will apply it when generating slides.

Can Computer only output Microsoft formats, or also Google Docs and Sheets?

Computer can output to Microsoft formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as files, and can export to with Google Docs and Sheets.

Can Computer create videos?

Yes, video creation is supported in Computer.

Can Computer handle document parsing and extract data to Excel?

Yes, you can upload PDFs, Word docs, and other files, and have Computer extract specific fields into structured tables and spreadsheet-ready outputs.

Can Computer build a full-stack website?

Yes, you can use Computer to build a full-stack web platform including front-end, back-end, and supporting components. Think of it as a cloud dev environment plus an autonomous teammate rather than a production hosting platform.

Can Computer run recurring tasks automatically?

Yes, you can set up recurring tasks on a schedule — daily, weekly, monthly — so Computer automatically runs workflows like pulling data, refreshing analyses, and updating reports.

Credits and Pricing

Is there a way to estimate credits before starting a task?

There is no built-in pre-run credit estimator today. We recommend using smaller, scoped tasks; stopping runs that go off into loops; and watching credits per thread.

What are best practices for managing credit usage?

Ask one focused question at a time instead of broad prompts. Reuse the same thread to iterate rather than starting new threads for every follow-up. Only attach files that are truly needed, and prototype agent workflows on small samples before scaling up.

Can I purchase additional credits on top of my current plan?

Yes, credits can be purchased by an organizational admin for the organization via the settings panel here.

Security and Privacy

Is my data used for model training?

No. Enterprise data is never used to train or fine-tune Perplexity's models, including Computer tasks, prompts, outputs, connector data, and uploaded files. Perplexity has zero data retention agreements with all third-party model providers.

How is data privacy governed when using connectors?

The same Enterprise security policies apply. No third-party models receive raw content, and zero data retention agreements are in effect with all model providers. Your existing security posture with connected tools is maintained.

Can enterprise admins control who has access to Computer?

Yes, enterprise admins can use the Computer configuration tab in settings to decide which users can access Computer and which connectors can be enabled.

Does Computer have SOC 2 Type II certification?

Yes, Perplexity Enterprise is SOC 2 Type II certified. Computer inherits the same security standards.

Is Perplexity Enterprise FedRAMP-authorized?

Perplexity Enterprise is FedRAMP authorized. You can view our authorization here.
